Filigree is an independent perfume atelier in Seattle, creating harmonic perfumes of the finest natural materials in melodic themes. Our name stems from a twice-borrowed reference to the song Filigree & Shadow by Fever Tree. All fragrances are developed and handcrafted in small batches using only botanic ingredients. We divine our inspiration from nature, histories, memories, philosophies, and the arts. Our natural perfumes are designed to be provocative and invoke a memory of something unexpected to happen.
James Elliott is the Head & Nose of Filigree. He studied perfumery for over five years before releasing his inaugural collection in 2015. As a self-taught perfumer, James finds inspiration in the emotional effect of how fragrance can intertwine music and memory. He began his formal art education at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, and completed his BFA at RMCAD in Denver. James has worked as a designer for nearly 20 years with a focus on elegant design simplicity across all experiences. He has a rare mix of sense and skills that allow him to make the most of his creative talents.
James produces everything by hand in Seattle, WA.
We only use botanic essential oils, extractions, and absolutes. The colors of our natural perfumes are dictated by the ingredients used in each fragrance. We do not use chemical fragrances, petroleum products, synthetic materials, preservatives, solvents, or dyes. We are committed to a 100% vegan product line: our fragrances are certified vegan by Vegan Action Network, certified Cruelty Free and Vegan by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), and we are proud to be a member of the Vegan Trade Council.
Eau de Parfum
Organic non-GMO sugarcane alcohol, parfum (fragrance). 80% volume. (The alcohol contains 5% water already in the compound resulting naturally from the distillation.)
Huile de Parfum
Organic jojoba oil, parfum (fragrance).
While we strive to use organic ingredients whenever possible, our perfumes are not 100% organic.
Our perfumes are constructed using the time-honored tradition of top, middle, and base notes; base notes may last up to 24 hours after application. Alcohol fragrances produce a sillage (wake) that allow others to enjoy your fragrance. Oil fragrances don’t produce a sillage similar to eau de parfum, rather they are meant more for others to appreciate when close to you. Re-apply the perfume as needed: a general rule of thumb is that the wearer should enhance, not announce, their presence so, start with no more than 2–3 sprays on your person.
Our perfumes should be enjoyed within 2–3 years after purchase. After time, the top notes in our perfumes will dissipate, changing the overall profile of the fragrance.
We recommend storing your perfume in a cool place away from heat or excessive light.
